Hat Hair! (3 Easy DIY Baseball Cap Hairstyles)

Hey hey Everyone, it’s Sabrina!

I’m super excited to show you all how to do these 3 easy DIY baseball cap hairstyles! I love these hairstyles because they are simple, cute, and look great with your baseball cap! Let’s get started!

1st hairstyle: items needed: baseball cap, 1 hair band, 1 small hair elastic, 1-2 bobby pins.

1.) Gather your hair and tie it into a pony-tail low enough so that it can fit through the pony-tail holder in your hat. Put your hat on and pull your pony-tail through the pony-tail holder.

2.) Grab a section of hair from your pony-tail and do an inside-out braid. To do this, just do a regular braid, but instead of crossing the strands over, cross them under. Secure with your small hair-elastic. To learn how to do a regular 3 strand braid, you can reference Emma’s post.

(please excuse the thread on my hat!)

3.) Next pancake your braid to make it look bigger and fuller. To do this, gently pull on the outer edges of your braid until you get your desired look. Then grab a small piece of hair and wrap it around your elastic band, and bobby pin into place.

And there you have it! First hairstyle-check!

2nd Hairstyle: items needed: baseball cap, alligator clip (or regular clip), 2 small hair elastics.

1.) Part your hair into a middle part and clip one side with your alligator clip to keep it out of the way.

2.) Grab a piece from the front of the un-clipped side and begin to do a dutch-braid straight back. You can leave some pieces of hair down in the front of your face for face framing if you would like. End the dutch braid at the crown of your head, and then continue braiding down and secure with an elastic. To learn how to do a dutch braid, you can reference our video in the dutch flip through hairstyle.

3.) Repeat on the other side and then pancake the braids (gently pull on the outer edges of the braid to make it look fuller.)

4.) Finally, put on your hat!

2nd hat hairstyle-done!

Now for the third and final baseball cap hairstyle. This is one is my personal favorite. (:

Items needed: baseball cap, 1 alligator clip (or regular clip), 1 hair band, 4 small hair elastics, 2-4 bobby pins.

1.) Repeat step one from the 2nd hat hairstyle but instead of using an alligator clip, secure that side with your hair band to keep it out of the way.

2.) Grab a small section of hair from the side that is not tied, and do a regular 3 strand braid. You can reference Emma’s post on how to do one if you would like.

3.) Flip your micro-braid over to the other side and clip it to keep it out of the way.

4.) Now, grab the rest of the hair on that side and do a fishtail braid all the way down and secure with an elastic. Pancake the braid if you would like it to look fuller/looser. You can reference Clare’s post on how to do a fishtail braid.

4.) Now unclip your micro braid and stack it on top or your fishtail and tie with an elastic. (You can now take off the other elastic so that there is only one left) To help the braid stay stacked on your fishtail, you can add one or two bobby pins as needed.

4.) Repeat steps 2-4 on the other side.

5.) And finally, put on your baseball cap!

Bam! There you have it, 3 easy diy baseball cap hairstyles. If baseball caps aren’t your style, then these hairstyles also look amazing without one.

Well, I hope you enjoyed these hairstyles–please leave a comment and let me know if you have any questions! Which hairstyle was your favorite?

See ya!
