Hey everyone! For today’s tutorial I’m going to show you how I came up with this unique rose braided bun. It could be used as a really formal style (with curls ect.) if you wanted, or you could dress it down a bit on a day where you just want to add a little something to a normal bun. 😉
I made up this hairstyle a couple of weeks ago quite accidentally and was surprised at how well it turned out, I really like how different it is from a regular braided updo.
Also, if you can french braid you’ll easily be able to create this hairstyle in no time at all. But for those of you that haven’t quite mastered the french braid yet, there’s a video of me doing it here.
Items needed: 1 normal hairtie, 1 small rubber elastic, and a handful of bobby pins.
Time: 10 minutes
Steps by step instructions:
1.) Start off by parting your hair to one side, then begin a regular french braid on the heavy side of the part (make sure you take very small sections as you go along because the aim is to make the french braid look fairly intricate.)
2.) Once you get to just before your ear you’re going to want to stop adding hair into the top part of the braid, (think of it as a lace braid) and continue braiding till you reach just behind the ear. Finish off the braid by plaiting the rest of the hair all the way down. Secure the ends of the plait with a small rubber elastic.
4.) Then gently tug on bits of the hair above the ponytail to add some volume and texture.
5.) Twist the hair in the ponytail loosely to make a bun..
6.) Lastly, grab your braid from before and pancake it a bit by tugging on the outside edges of the braid. Now twist the braid around itself to create a flower shape above the bun, pin in place and you’re done!
Here’s the final look:
Have a fabulous day, and I’ll see you next week!
