3 in 1 French/Fishtail Combo

For my bonus post this week I’m going to show you how to create three different hairstyles out of one! The first one could be used as a sports hairstyles, the second a formal style, and the third one for any occasion!

My cousin is modelling these three hairstyles today, but of course, as usual, they’re 100% DIY if you can french braid and fishtail.

{If you don’t know how to fishtail or french braid, tutorials are linked in the text below. 😉 }

Items needed: 3 hair ties, a handful of bobby pins || Difficulty: Medium || Time: 5-8 minutes

Hairstyle No. 1: Sporty double french/fishtail braids

1.) Start by parting the hair all the way down the middle..

2.) Then pick up a small section of hair on one side of the part and french braid it until you reach the nape of your neck.

3.) Once you reach the nape of your neck divide all the hair left-over into two big sections..

4.) Now fishtail braid the hair leftover all the way down until you reach the ends of your hair, secure with an elastic.

5.) Repeat the same steps on the other side of your part and you’re done!

Hairstyle No. 2: french/fishtail updo

  1. Using the braids from the last hairstyle, wrap the fishtail braids around each other into a bun..
  2. Pin and arrange to your liking and you’re done!

I added a small hair accessory to the top of the bun, but it’s up to you as to what you’d like to do there. 😉

Hairstyle No. 3: french/fishtail combo

  1.  Using the two french braids from the other two hairstyles, divide all the remaining hair into two large sections and fishtail braid all the way down.
  2. Secure the ends with an elastic and pancake as desired.
  3. And you’re done!

Let me know down in the comments which was your favourite hairstyle! (:

  1. Ooooh they’re so pretty. My arms always get tired when I try to fishtail tho…:( Good job Clare, I admire your never ending creativity!

    1. So glad you liked them! Have you tried bringing the braid over your shoulder to braid after you get past a certain point? It really helps with sore arms because you’re not reaching so far back. You can also hold both sections of the braid to give your arm a rest. Hopefully that made sense! 🙂
Aww, thank you so much! You’re so sweet! ❤
