Rope Twist Combo Braid | Curly Hairstyles

Hey everyone! Welcome back to SGH! Today I’m sharing with you another easy hairstyle, great for beginner braiders and also those of you with curly/hard to manage hair.

This is totally DIY, but I’m showing you how to do it on my sister because she has curly hair. 😉

Items needed: 2-3 small rubber hair ties.

Time: 3-5 minutes

Difficulty: Easy

Step-by-step instructions:

1.) Start with your hair down and parted to your preferred side (however, this hairstyle does work better with a side part.)

2.) Pick up a small section a few centimeter back from your hairline on the heavier side of your part and divide into two even pieces. Now rope twist this section all the way down. To rope twist, simply twist both sections separately to the right and then twist them together to the left. You can see a similar concept in Sophia’s post here, only you don’t add in any hair to the pieces. 😉

3.) Repeat step 2 by grabbing some hair just behind the section your just rope-twisted, and rope twist that too. Secure ends with an elastic.4.) Now gather all of your remaining hair and divide into three sections to do a regular braid or plait.

To Plait:

  1. Divide the hair into 3 pieces..
  2. Cross the right strand over the middle strand..
  3. Bring the left strand over the new middle strand..
  4. Repeat steps 2-3 all the way down the hair.

5.) Secure the ends of your braid with another elastic and you’re done! 🙂

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial. If you’d like to leave any sort or hairstyle request or hair care post ideas ect., please feel free to do so down in the comments. 🙂Have an awesome rest of the week, and Happy Valentines day for tomorrow! ❤

  1. This is very pretty, but I have a quick question. When you said:

“To rope twist, simply twist both sections separately in the same direction and then twist them together in the opposite direction.”

I wondered how to do that. I thought you twisted in the same direction all the way down.

Anyway, that’s my only question. I like this hair style a lot.
