Crisscross Dutch Half-up Bun | Prom Hairstyles

Hi everyone! Happy Easter! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend and are enjoying the Easter season now. Today I have another simple prom hairstyle, which is fairly easy to create and looks really pretty!

Items needed: 2 small rubber hair ties, a handful of bobby pins, and hair spray (if desired)

Time: 6-12 minutes

Difficulty: Easy (as long as you can dutch braid)

Step-by-step instructions:

1.) Begin by parting your hair off to one side. Now pick up a small section of hair on the heavier side of your part and begin a dutch braid, (make sure to leave enough hair behind this section for your second braid.) Once you’ve braided a few sections stop adding in hair from the side closest to your face (basically a dutch lace braid.)  Once you’re almost to the back of you head stop adding in hair and finish off the braid with a plait. Secure the ends with a clip or bobby pin for now.

2.) Now reach behind the first braid and repeat the same steps… When you have both braids done gently go back a pancake them a bit by tugging on the outside bumps of the braid.

3.) Next, secure the top half of your hair at the back of you head like this:

Feel free to tug on the hair i the section to create some more volume.

4.) Grab your ponytail you just tied back and create a bun (you can do it however you like) I chose to do a more messy-style bun to add some more texture to my style.

5.) All you need to do now is secure the braids around your bun. To give it the crisscross look I took the braid closest to the bun and secured it under and then around the bun. And then for the braid closest to my face I took it up and over the second braid and then around the bun from the top. (Pin each braid separately so that they are more secure.)

At this point you can add some curls to you hair, but I left mine natural this time as it was requested that I do a formal hairstyle without wand curls. 😉 And you’re done!

I hope you liked this tutorial, let me know what you thought of it down in the comments. Also, if you have any hair requests or questions just let me know down below. 😉
