Braided Gibson Tuck

Hello everyone, my name is Ann! I will be sharing with you for the first time today. My specialty is long hair, though I do like short hairstyles too. I’m so excited to start posting, because hairstyling is one of my favorite things to do.

For my first post, I will be showing you how to do a Braided Gibson Tuck. It is an elegant yet rather simple updo, perfect for formal occasions when you don’t want anything extravagant. Let’s get started!

……………………………………………..

Items needed: One hair tie, four small clear elastic hair ties, a handful of bobby pins, comb, hairspray (optional)

Time: 10-15 minutes

Difficulty: Medium

…………………………………………………

Step-by-Step Instructions:

1.) Make a side part. Then part your hair at your ear, on the side with more hair. Keep this small section in the front separate from the rest of your hair.

2.) Tie the rest of your hair into a low ponytail.

3.) Make a flip through: divide the base of the ponytail in half, making a little hole, then poke your finger through the hole from underneath so that you can bring the ponytail up and through the hole.

It will look like this:

4.) Take the section of hair that you set aside earlier, and comb it down smooth. Then, bobby pin it down on the side of your head, making sure it is straight.

5.) Next, insert that section into the opening made by the flip through, so that it is a part of the ponytail.

6.) Divide your ponytail into three equal parts, and braid the middle section. It is really important that all the sections are perfectly equal, or it will look lopsided.

7.) Braid the next section.

8.) And finally, braid the remaining the section.

9.) Take the ends of all three braids and tie them together at the end. Make sure the braids are even and aligned. This is a good time to spray your braids with hairspray, to make them stiffer and easier to work with in the next steps.

10.) Take the end of the braids and insert it in the opening created by the ponytail. Make sure to pull it down securely, or else it will be hard to bobby pin later.

11.) Keep a tight grip on the end of the braids, and bring it out under the base of the ponytail. Press firmly; then bobby pin as needed. Make sure it is tight!

12.) Add hairspray as desired, and you’re all finished!

I think it looks really nice with some flowers or a ribbon, like this:

I hope you liked my first post! Please comment below to let me know what you think. Any suggestions are welcome, especially if you have requests for future long hairstyles! Also, please feel free to take our survey 😉
