No-Heat Wand Curls

Hey everyone!

How has your summer been? When I think of summer, I immediately think of the beach, ice-cream, and lots of sunshine.

And when I think of summer hairstyles I think messy bun or curls/waves would make the top of my list. 😉

But to be serious, I love curls all year round! This technique is my favorite right now, because the crown of your head isn’t going to curl, which gives the hair more of a wand-curl-type vibe. And it also doubles up as a super cute hairstyle!

Difficulty level: easy

Time needed: 5-10 minutes to create the hairstyle. 6-8 hours to let the curls form, depending on your hair type/length.

Items needed: 6 bobby pins, three hair-bands

1.) Part hair to your liking. Mine is in a side part. Make sure to brush your hair thoroughly to ensure that you have smooth looking curls.*

2.) With a hair band, tie to the side 2/3 of your hair.

3.) Twist the other 1/3 of your hair away from your face. Coil into a bun and tie with a hair band.

4.) Split the sectioned part in two. The middle bun can be coiled in either direction. Secure with a hair band.

5.) Repeat step #3 with the last section.

6.) Use your bobby-pins to secure the buns. Secure them close to each other. (Almost think of ‘lifting’ them up towards your head.) The picture below is how they should look after pinning.

7.) Go to sleep! Either that, or keep the coils in for approximately 6-8 hours, depending on your hair type/length. (At this point, you have a great hairstyle, so these could technically be overnight or day-to-night curls.)

8.) Once your coils have been in for a while, you can gently undo them. At first, it will look like three twists. This is where you should NOT rush.

9.) Gently separate the curls with your fingers. You can shake them around a bit at the roots as well. I recommend using a boar-bristle brush gently if you feel the need to brush through your hair slightly. Other than that, keep running your fingers through the curls, until they look however tight/loose you like them.

…and there you have it! 🙂 My current favorite way to get some pretty awesome curls! They remind me a lot of wand curls, which I totally love. Plus, the triple buns are such a cute hairstyle for any girls who want their hair up this summer.

Let me know what you think of these no-heat curls in the comments! Have a great day!

Catch ya later,

* I prepped my hair with several spritzes of sea-salt spray. If you’d like to here some other tips for curl prep and such, check out the end of my other curl post.

3 Twist Ponytail

Hello Everyone!

Today I am going to show you how to do this super cute and perfect-for-summer hairstyle! It’s called the 3 Twist Ponytail. I would like to thank my sister, Sophia, (who also posts on here) because she actually thought of this hairstyle for me. ❤ I really love this hairstyle because it gets the hair away from your face and up into a ponytail to keep you cool while looking cute all summer long. I hope you enjoy!

also my hair is finally long enough to get into a high ponytail (well with a couple bobby pins lol), yay!

Items needed: 6-8 bobby pins as needed, 2 hair elastics, 1 bandana // Difficulty: Easy // Time Needed: 5-8 minutes

1.) Section off your hair by tracing two lines from your temples up. Secure with an elastic. IMG_9961

2.) Secure the bottom part of your with an elastic as well to keep it out of the way. Now section the top half into thirds and tie off two of the three sections to keep them out of the way. (the sections don’t have to be very precise 😉 )

3.) Starting from the front of your head, twist the first section tightly. I twisted it away from my ear. Once you reach the back of the crown of your head pin securely with two bobby pins.

4.) Repeat with the other two sections. I twisted the outer sections away from my ears and then I twisted the middle section in either direction.

5.) release the bottom part of your hair and gather all of your hair into a high ponytail. Secure with an elastic.

6.) Tightly roll up your bandana and wrap it around your ponytail. I cross it over once and under once before tying it at the top in a double knot. If this seems complicated, the picture will show how easy it is (;

Aaaaand that’s it! Here are the final pictures!

I hope you enjoyed this hairstyle! Don’t forget to leave a comment and/or question and if you have any hairstyle requests leave them here!

See ya!
