Hello hello, Sabrina here! I am super excited to show you all how to do the pull-through braided half-up hairstyle. I got my hair cut short recently, and it’s a big change, but I am loving it so much. For all you short-haired people out there, I know sometimes it can be really hard to style short hair and be versatile, so I hope this style helps you out. (:
Items needed: 5-6 tiny hair elastics (I recommend ones that are close to the color of your hair so you won’t see them as much. I used black), 7-8 bobby pins or as many as you need; Time: about 10 minutes; Skill Level: easy-medium.
1.) Gather a small section of hair at the front of your head and secure with an elastic. Repeat this step right behind the pony-tail you just made.
2.) Now we’re going to start on the pull-through braid. Split the first ponytail into two equal sections. Then wrap or pull those pieces around the second ponytail. Secure those two pieces with a third elastic. I added more hair to those two pieces in the back to make a bigger pony-tail because I have layers and my hair is so short, but that is not necessary if your hair is longer. Now go to the second pony-tail, split it in half and pull those two sections around the third pony-tail and secure with another elastic behind the third pony-tail. This step might sound a bit confusing, but I promise it will make so much more sense when you look at the picture.
3.) Bobby pin each side down if it is sticking up a bit. Just this makes a cute hairstyle as well!
4.) Grab a small piece of hair next to the pull-through braid. You can grab directly at the front but I prefer to leave the very front hairs down for facial framing. Now begin to do a regular 3-strand braid. You can reference Emma’s post.
Repeat this step on the other side.
5.) Your hair should now look something like this.
6.) Grab the braids and bring them back and grab the two pony-tails and begin to secure all of them with one elastic except only pull half way through, so there is a big loop.
7.) Grab a piece from the loop and pull it forward and pin it down to start your messy-bun.
8.) Repeat this step in all directions until you have reached a messy bun to your desired liking.
And here’s the final look!
I think this hairstyle is super cute, and it looks especially adorable in this fall season and the upcoming winter season! One of the best things about this hairstyle is that it looks great on long hair as well, and you can dress it up or down.
Well, I hope you all liked this hairstyle, let me know what you thought and/or if you have any questions. Happy hairstyling!
See ya!
