Double French Braid Buns

Hey everyone! Hoping that everyone is staying safe and well, and that this tutorial might brighten someone’s day. (: <33

Today I have another fun short hairstyle for you. However, this style will work on most lengths of hair. 😉

I actually didn’t realise until afterwards, but this tutorial is kind of a spin-off from Sabrina’s DIY Double Dutch Buns tutorial, as it is a similar style, except with french braids instead of dutch. 😉

Thanks again to my friend Bernadette who’s modelling this hairstyle today. 😉

Items needed: 2 small rubber hair ties, and a handful of bobby pins

Time: 5-8 minutes

Difficulty: Easy-Medium

Step-by-step instructions:

1.) Begin by sectioning off your hair into two even sections on top of your head..

2.) Next french braid each section, making sure to start as close to the front of your head as possible.

Tip: the key to starting your french braid close to your roots is to start braiding with really small sections and then gradually building up the braid with more hair. 😉

Here’s a basic how-to on french braiding:

  1.   Divide the hair into 3 pieces
  2.   Cross the left strand over the middle strand
  3.   Bring the right strand over the new middle strand
  4.   Repeat steps 2-3 all the way down the hair
  5.   Your braid is complete!!
  6.  See this video for more help

3.) Once you’ve stopped adding in hair to the braid, plait the ends all the way down…

4.) Then, holding the braid in one hand, use your other hand to go back up the braid tugging gently on the inner sections of the braid to loosen up the french braid and create a more relaxed look…

5.) Secure the ends of each braid with an elastic..

6.) Lastly, after pulling apart each braid to make them bigger, twist each braid up into a bun, making sure to keep them as close to each other as possible. Secure with bobby pins.

Annddd you’re done! Here are some more pictures of the final look:

I’d love to know what you think of this hairstyle, please let me know down in the comments as well as any other post requests!

That’s all I have for you today, until then stay safe and well, & positive, and I hope you all have a good rest of the week! 🙂
